Hobbies for SeniorsWe've been in our retirement community for about two months now and my husband is really getting into this whole retirement
stuff. He's joined about four clubs to my...zero. He goes out nearly every morning to one or another of his groups...usually
one that is connected to making jewelery that I affectionately refer to now as his "rock shop". He comes home
and shows me what he's been working on, and even made a few pieces of jewelry for me that are nice enough to wear!
Here are some other ideas about hobbies for seniors that they do here... Leatherwork Woodwork Porcelain Painting Oil and watercolor Painting Crafts galore Gourd Decorating Quilt making Rock Hounding Photography Pottery Lapidary Pickle Ball Tennis Golf Garage sale Hunting...collecting treasures others don't
want Book writing and reading clubs
And that's just a few examples
Our daughter called this
morning and asked how we liked living in our "retirement home" and I had to correct her. Sun City is nothing
like a retirement home I laughed, and isn't what I expected a retirement community to be like either.
Sooo
much to do. I've seen more people out walking and exercising here than in any of the family communities we've lived in when
we were younger. More people playing outdoor sports, and even their fair share of seniors in the gym.
Getting involved
in activities, exercise and community involvement is very important here, as it is for the health of any senior. Find a great
hobby for senior aged people based on your health and get involved.
