As seniors we have been around long enough to know that sex starts in the brain. But  what happens when the brain is telling us we want sex and our bodies don't respond?

Our bodies have been changing over the years. Where once our muscles were firm, yet elastic, today things aren't where they used to be. We even have a hard time bending over to put on our shoes.

Certain positions that were once effortless are now difficult. Our brain says yes I can, but our bodies don't respond.

Some of the changes can work in our favor as seniors. For instance, there isn't as much pressure for a man to 'perform' during sex as we get older. We take life easier and don't put unrealistic expectations on ourselves. We know our way around a bedroom. We take our time. If it doesn't work, we wait for a day or two.

Communication is still key in your relationship, and for great sex. So, keep the lines open, share your day with your partner and improve your relationship, and when it comes to sex talk about what is pleasurable for you and ask your partner what they like.

Yes, our bodies have changed. In general, for men the arousal time is not nearly as fast as it used to be, and it doesn’t happen as frequently.
